Kuthiraivali dosa - Barnyard millet dosa

 Hi friends,

Welcome to another blog. In the line of traditional dishes, today I have come with kuthiraivali dosa.

Even though it is a traditional recipe, I started using this millet very recently after I found out all its nutritional benefits.

I have not had many millet foods but I am trying to include those in my diet slowly.

So,to include any new millet to your diet, the best bet would be to make idly, dosa or roti.

This time it is dosa. I tried to make it in a similar  way as I make javvarisi dosa instead of rice. It worked perfectly well. So today I am sharing the recipe.

Ingredients

Kuthiravali - 2 cups

U.dal -3/4 cup

Javvarisi / sago - 1/3 cup

Methi seeds / venthayam - 1 tsp

Salt

Soak the given ingredients separately for a minimum of 3 to 4 hours.

Once soaked, grind it into a smooth wet batter just like you would make a dosa batter.

Now keep it aside for around 8 hours to ferment.

After 8 hours, heat a dosa tava. Once it is hot, add a full ladle of batter to tava and spread it into a thin circle. Cook for a minute on both sides .

Serve it hot with some spicy chutney, coconut chutney or sambhar.

Use gingelly oil for best tasting dosa.

I served this with onion and carrot sambar.

Making this once a week would be great for our tummy too.

Feel free to make varieties of dosa with this batter.
