White peas masala/ Ghugni
Hi friends,
After a long break, got a little time to start blogging again.
Today, I am going to share a side dish recipe made of white peas, that can be used for rice or roti. Infact , we can have it alone as a chaat with a little bit of raw onion and coriander garnished on top of it.
Let's go
First wash and soak dried white peas for a whole 8 hrs. We need it to be soaked well.
Cook the peas in a pressure cooker for 4-5 whistle. It needs to be cooked well.
In a kadai, add oil, jeera. Once it crackles, add 1 bay leaf , 1 small cinnamon stick, 2 cardamom and 2 cloves.
Add finely chopped 1 onion, 1 inch ginger and 3-4 cloves garlic. Saute it till onion changes to golden brown.
Now add finely chopped 2 small tomatoes or 1 big tomato to it. Saute it well.
Once everything goes mushy, add a tsp of turmeric powder, a tbsp of chilly powder, salt and crushed coriander seeds.
Add 1 chopped big potato.
Add some water and cook the potatoes and the gravy together.Saute it well , now add cooked white peas .
Cook it well for a good 8-10 minutes for everything to come together.
Switch off and serve it with phulkas, Puri ,rice or have it as a stand alone chaat with some raw onions and coriander leaves as garnish.
A good subzi/ snack recipe suitable for everyone.
Please do try and let me know.
