Banana stem rice

 Hi friends,

I am back after a short break. It was the season of festivals. Had heavy snacks and meals. It is the time of some detox before the next festival.

Slowly schools are opening and things are getting to normal. So soon our routines will start.

This particular recipe, I made as a first trial. It came out very well.

Banana stem rice - this is made in a South indian style with spices.  It is healthy and tasty.

Let's jump to the ingredients without wasting time

Banana stem - 1

Raw rice -1 cup

Potato -1

Carrot -1

Onion -1

Green chillies -2

Curry leaves

Salt

Ginger - 1 inch chopped

Mustard seeds - 1 tsp

Urad dal - 1tsp

Sundal powder - 1 tbsp

In a flat kadai, add oil. Once oil is hot, temper mustard seeds, urad dal ,curry leaves . Once it  crackles, add green chilli, ginger and onion. Fry all these things very well with salt and turmeric powder.

Once onions are cooked , add chopped vegetables . Cook these in the closed pan for 6 or 7 minutes till vegetables are cooked.

Now add the raw rice into the pan. Roast it for a few minutes. Add the sundal powder.

Now add 3 cups of water. Let it boil on high flame. Once it starts boiling, lower the flame to sim. Cook the rice after closing the pan.

In 7 minutes, rice will be cooked. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.

Serve it hot with appalam or raita or pachadi.

I didn't use garlic, but it can be added.

Similarly I have not used garam masala too. Please feel free to add masala to it.

Please try this one pot tasty meal and let me know.
