Rava kichadi

 Hi friends,

This is the time for another dinner/ breakfast recipe. Today I am here with rava kichadi. If there is any food that is not loved by most people, it would definitely be Rava upma. I love to eat Rava kichadi in restaurants but usually they literally give in tablespoon measure. It will always make us longing for more. So I make it at home using this recipe.

Rava upma if made perfectly, it is one of the easiest and the tastiest and fastest recipe.

Today I am going to share how I make rava kichadi.



Let's look into the ingredients

Ingredients:-

Rava- 2 cup

Onion - 1 chopped 

Tomato - 1 chopped

green chilly -2 chopped

vegetables- 1.5 cup 

Turmeric powder - 1 tsp

salt

for tempering

mustard seeds

urad dal

channa dal

curry leaves



In a deep bottomed kadai, add oil and ghee. Once oil is hot, add mustard seeds, urad dal and channa dal. Once it is all fried well add curry leaves, chillies.


In the meantime take 4 cups of water and boil it in another vessel.

Once curry leaves and chillies are fried ,add onion. After onion, add tomato. Cook everything till it is mushy. Now add vegetables. Here I have added carrot , capsicum and green peas.





Once all vegetables are roasted a little, add  rava to the kadai. In high flame, roast the rava for a minute. Add salt and turmeric powder to it and mix it well.



Now in high flame , add boiling water to the rava and immediately switch the flame to sim.



Close the kadai and cook the upma to 5-6 minutes. By now the rava would have cooked and upma will not be sticky.

Switch off the gas and add a spoon of ghee on top of upma.


Serve it hot with any kind of chutney and sambhar.
