Veg pulao
Hi friends,
Welcome to another one of my blog. Today it is the time for a pulao.
This particular recipe is very simple and it is a perfect for weekend lunch, potluck or Tiffin box.
I have always loved pulao that is white and we know from that there is not a lot of masala added to it.
I have been trying various ways and this is the recipe we all loved.
Ingredients
Basmati rice - 1.5 cup
Mixed vegetables - 1 cup
Onion -1
Tomato -1
Grated ginger and garlic - 1 tbsp each
Bay leaf -1
Kal pasi - 1 small piece
Clove -2
Cardamom -2
Jeera - 1 tbsp
Cinnamon - small piece
Soak basmati rice for half an hour.
In a kadai, add a Tsp of oil and ghee. Temper the jeera first and then add bay leaf, kal pasi, clove ,cardamom, and cinnamon.
Fry for a minute and add ginger and garlic. Now add chopped onions. Fry the onions till it's translucent. Then only the pulao will stay white.
Now add chopped tomatoes. Fry for a minute. Add chopped vegetables and saute for 5 minutes. Cook on a medium flame.
Now take soaked rice and fry in the kadai with vegetables. Add 3 cups of water to it.
Once water starts boiling, you can see rice absorbing water. Once you feel that there is no more extra water, keep the kadai at low flame and close it and cook for 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes, if you open the lid, rice would be fluffy and just cooked with a wonderful fragrance.
Serve it hot with any gravy or even appalam or raita is good.
