Dangar pachadi
Hi friends,
This is the time for another traditional recipe. It is a pachadi which can be made in 2 minutes if we have urad dal powder ready. It is a protein rich pachadi similar to a north indian raita.
This pachadi is called dangar/ tangar pachadi. We use roasted urad dal powder in it. Except for some families, many of us have forgotten such recipes. This blog is to remind us about such recipes which has taken a backseat. This is a learning experience for me too.
This tastes great with molagu kuzhambu or vatha kuzhambu.
Let's get on to the ingredients
Curd -1/2 cup
Roasted urad dal powder - 2 tbsp
Salt
Green chillies
Curry leaves
Hing
Mustard seeds
Take the curd in a cup. Add roasted urad dal powder and salt to it. Mix well.
In a kadai, add oil. Add mustard seeds, chopped green chillies, curry leaves and hing. Once it's done, add it to curd mixture. Mix well.
Easy and simple dangar pachadi ready for some spicy kuzhambu.
If you dont have urad dal powder handy, we can very well make at home.
Roasted urad dal powder
In a heavy bottomed kadai, take required urad dal and dry roast it keeping the flame at low.
At around 7-8 minutes, an aroma tells you that it is roasted well. Don't take the dal too dark.
This is the powder we use when we usually make snacks / batchanam.
