Karamani poricha kootu

 Hi friends,

This is the time for another traditional dish. It is made out of karamani beans.  Some people call it payathangai.  Fresh karamani tastes too good. A simple poriyal is also tasty when the vegetables are very fresh.

This particular day, i had got a fresh bunch of packed karamani. It was too tender. It literally got cooked in 2-3 minutes.

Today I am making a poricha kootu out of it.

This is made with coconut. It goes well with sambar, rasam. It also tastes great with plain rice, a spoon of ghee and fried arisi appalam.

Lets get on to the ingredients

Ingredients

Karamani beans - 250 gms

peanuts - a handful

M.dal - 1/4 cup

Turmeric powder

Salt

To grind

Grated coconut - 1/2 coconut

Red chillies -2

Jeera -2 tsp

Pepper - 2 tsp

Chop the vegetable small. Cook it in boiling water with salt and turmeric powder. Cook the moong dal in pressure cooker till it is mushy.

In a kadai, add oil. Temper mustard seeds, urad dal, curry leaves and hing.

Once tempered add cooked vegetable and salt. Add cooked moong dal.

In a mixie, take the things given under to grind and grind it into a smooth paste.

Now add the paste to the cooked vegetable. Cook for 5-6 minutes.

Once everything comes together, switch off the gas and serve it hot.

An absolute simple and yummy weekday lunch recipe.

Please try and let me know.
