Aviyal kuzhambu - Aadi perukku special

Hi friends,
This is the month of festivities.  Once aadi starts, a number of festivals start for us. Today ,its aadi perukku day.  Since I was born and brought up in city, I didn't have the traditional method of celebrating aadi perukku . But it was special in our own way. My Patti used to make all kinds of variety rice and we used to sit around her and eat ,if it was a holiday. Otherwise, it was in the lunch box😐.

We are all puliyodharai fanatics at home. We can have it always. I personally prefer all these variety rice than usual cooking.

Today , me and my mother made puliyodharai, coconut rice, lemon rice, curd rice, sweet rice with appalam and aviyal kuzhambu.

I am sharing today with you, our recipe to make aviyal kuzhambu.

INGREDIENTS:-
Mixed vegetables    -  2  cup
Tamarind                  -  1 amla size soaked
Coconut                     -  1 half grated
Green chilli               - 2
Red chilli                   -  1
Jeera                          - 1 tbsp
Turmeric powder
Salt
Coconut oil
Curry leaves

Cook the mixed vegetables in boiling water with salt and turmeric powder. Once it is half cooked, add tamarind water and boil them together for 5 minutes.
At this time vegetables would have cooked and raw smell of tamarind would not be there. Now grind coconut, chillies and jeera into a smooth paste.
Add the ground paste to the cooked vegetables.
Boil the mixture for 2,3 minutes.  Switch off the flame.
Aviyal kuzhambu is ready.

Usually tempering is not added. I add coconut oil and curry leaves to the kuzhambu just after switching off gas.

We also make it a little thin as it is used as a side dish for the variety rice.

Please try and let me know.
