Day 30 - Tamilnadu lunch
Hi friends,
Home is where the heart is. I am so elated that I am able to complete 30 days of Indian states challenge. I first want to thank my husband and my son who were so supportive. Whatever I made, they were ready to try and they gave their honest feedbacks too.Being in the lockdown, my aim was to use whatever I had in my pantry. No food wastage is a very important thing to me. It was possible only with their support.
As a finishing touch, I am here with Tamilnadu, my home. What's not to love about Tamilnadu. There are historical places, temples, entertainment , vacation spots, food, shopping. Name it and you have it all here.
No one goes hungry here, any part of the day. Not only local ,you get national food and international food and some exotic cuisine too. We would like to try all those that are available to have a better understanding. This 30 day challenge was a real eye opener. I learnt so much. Not only that, it made me humble.
Tamilnadu lunch automatically means sambar , rasam and vegetable. A staple menu in most of the tambrahm families on a Sunday would be araichu vitta sambar , tomato rasam, potato curry and some other vegetable. I made beans paruppu usili. What a finish.
Today I made
I have already shared in my blog how I make araichu vitta sambar. I also made idly for breakfast. We had mini sambar idly too with this sambar.
For sambar powder recipe,
It is a basic rasam recipe with homemade rasam powder, tomato and tamarind. Will share soon how I make our rasam powder.
This is also a usual dry curry made with just potatoes, salt and curry powder. Tempered with mustard seeds, urad dal. Will share our version of curry powder soon.
My husband loves usili. So I make it regularly. He likes it a little soft. So I add channa dal to make the usili softer.
With this, we had curd with homemade mango thokku.
I hope everyone enjoyed reading these posts for the past 30 days. Will try to share more recipes in the coming days.
