Day 25 - Karnataka mini lunch

Hi friends,
Today I am here with karnataka.  Karnataka is the only southern state to have land borders with all of the other 4 southern Indian sister states. Karnataka has been home to some of the powerful empires of India.  We lived in Bangalore for around 2 years. So we have visited many places nearby.

Day 25 - karnataka mini lunch
Udipi cuisine is famous all over India. Rice and ragi are staples. Many karnataka recipes are famous all over India. When we are reminded of our stay at Bangalore, it is always food related memories. In the weekends, it was always restaurant hopping.  Mtr, south indies, simply south, Adigas etc. Other than these ,we loved to go to corner house icecreams.  Their death by chocolate was to die for. We had dominos, ccd near our place. What more do we want.

Today I made

Bisibela huli Anna
This is their version of sambar rice made with Copra, cinnamon, cardamom and poppy seeds. It is served hot with a dollop of ghee that is melting.

Mysore tomato saaru
This is the famous mysore rasam.  We love to make it once in a while.  It is made by roasting and grinding ingredients with a little bit of coconut.

Suvarnagadde palya
This is a dry curry made with yam. It includes coconut, tamarind, jaggery, chillies.

Soppina palya
Soppina means greens. I made this dry curry with arai keerai. Cooked moong dal is added to it.
This is a wholesome lunch which can be made  anyday of the week and it is good for lunch box too.
