Instant Orange kulfi in orange shell

Hi friends, 
Who doesn't like cool ice cream in hot summer. From a small kid to a octogenarian, everyone loves ice cream. When I was small, there were many mobile icecream vendors. They will come around in the night with the bells attached to the vehicles. The bell sound will make you want to ask for ice cream. At one point, I started to identify the brand with the sound of the bell. Those who know me well, know that I am ice cream crazy. 
All happy memories of my childhood with respect to icecream is with my Radhamohan thatha. He always had whatever flavour I had. After he comes to know of the price, he will always say, you could have got me vanilla cup instead. He also will ask for a taste of vanilla icecream from my Patti, who in turn will give half of her cup to him. So ,finally he would have got both icecreams. Every time I eat icecreams, I think of him and tell the same story. 
There are many many icecream memories.  I will have to write a book about it. It is such a long list.
Now let us jump to our recipe. There are many things which inspire us. One such instance is where I saw, orange icecream being served in orange shell itself in a wedding. So, me and my son decided to make kulfi in the orange shell.

I have used a instant kulfi mix that I prepared at home. This mix can be used to prepare many different varieties of kulfi. This is a quick method too.

INGREDIENTS:- 
Sugar              :-1/2 cup
Cashew nut   :-1/4 cup
Rice flour       :- 1/2 cup

Take the above items in a mixie jar and grind it into very fine powder. Instant kulfi mix is ready.
You can store this in fridge for 1 month.

To make kulfi
INGREDIENTS:- 
Milk

If  using the entire kulfi mix, we need 3 cups .

I took just 1 cup of milk. 
In a kadai, boil the milk. Once it comes to a boil, reduce the flame to low and add 6 tbsp of the instant mix little by little, whisking all the time. In a few minutes, we can see milk thickening. 
Switch off the gas and let it cool.
Plain kulfi is ready. But today we are making orange kulfi.
Take 2 oranges and cut the top. Take a knife or a spoon and scoop out the orange flesh without damaging the shell. Once the shell is ready ,keep it in the freezer with its lid for 10 minutes.
Strain orange juice from the flesh. I got 1/2 cup of juice from 2 oranges. 
Add the orange juice to the cooled kulfi and mix it well. 
Once cooled, take the mixture and pour it in the orange shell and close it with orange lid. Freeze the orange for 6-8 hours. Orange kulfi is ready.



Some tips
We can add food colours or saffron strands too. I added a little kesari colour.
With this instant kulfi mix ,we can make kesar pista, badham, chocolate, paan kulfi. It is such an easy method instead of waiting for the milk to reduce and constant stirring.
