Day 3 - Uttarakhand Recipes

Hope you all enjoyed reading about Dham. Some would have also googled the dishes. Today it is time of Uttarakhand.
Nestled in the foot of Himalayas, Kumaon and Garhwal are distinct regions of Uttarakhand. Both have distinctive culture,food and traditions. The food habits of the people change according to the changing seasons.
Today I have come with
Kumaoni roti prepared by stuffing ragi dough into wheat dough. Lots of ghee is used.
It is similar to making dal. Here we soak the dal for hours and grind them into paste. Then cook with usual temperings.
This chutney is made in winters with roasted til, coriander,green chilly . It is also used as a dip.
Plyo is a delicious dish made with ragi flour and buttermilk with salt,chilli powder .
A typical kumaoni dish made from potatoes, generally eaten as evening snack. It is like a dry curry.
We loved these recipes. Til chutney was very yummy.They use a lot of gahat(horse gram) in their recipes. Since I didn't have it, I used tur dal.
This cuisine is easy to prepare, highly nutritious and very tasty.
