Day 10 - Meghalaya/ Tripura

Hi friends,
Today I have come with 2 states . Ideally I wanted to do separately but there were less vegetarian recipes for all the north eastern states. Not only that, some of the recipes are repeated.  So I decided to combine the remaining 2 of the seven sister states.
Meghalaya and tripura are states which are beautiful. Both are agrarian economies. Meghalaya is the wettest region of India. Forests cover most of the areas of these states.
All these states have to be visited to really learn about them.

Day 10 - Meghalaya/Tripura
Like all the north eastern states, even these two are heavily non vegetarian. They depend on meats, local produce.Rice is the staple diet. One thing that is special to meghalaya is black sesame seeds. They roast and grind into paste and use with vegetables or meat or dal.

Today I have made
Ja stem
It is a rice made with turmeric , ginger and garlic. It is a Meghalayan dish

Daiineiiong
Toor dal is cooked with ginger, garlic paste and roasted sesame dal paste.

These are for Meghalaya.

Kasor Bwtwi

This is a green bean dry curry with meat. I have just used green beans with onion, ginger and garlic.

Kol posolo chakoi
This is a bamboo flower dry curry with onion, ginger, garlic .

Till now I have been googling and cooking dishes which was totally new to me. This was just a  great experience to learn about the food habits of our own people. From tomorrow I am entering to states which I have a little introduction before. I may have gone to these places or I would have eaten some of their food. So I am a little confident that I can manage the coming days.

See you then with some more recipes.
