Tirunelveli special kootu kuzhambu

Hi everyone,
Today i am here with another unique recipe. It is called kootu kuzhambu. As the name suggests we can use this as a kootu ,side dish for kalandha saadham or use it as kuzhambu and mix it with rice and eat it with appalam. This can be done with any vegetable along with a legume.
Today I have taken raw banana along with karamani (black eyed pea). We can also use konda kadalai or if nothing is available we can use channa dal too. Let's get to the recipe.

INGREDIENTS:-
  • Raw banana            :- 2
  • Boiled karamani     :- 1 cup
  • Tamarind                 :-lemon sized ball soaked
  • Sambar powder      :- 2 tbsp
  • Salt                            :- to taste
  • T. Dal                         :-1/4 cup  cooked
  • To grind:-
  • U.dal                          :-  1 tbsp
  • Coconut                     :- 1/4 cup
Roast u.dal in 1 tsp oil till it is golden brown . Then add coconut in the pan and immediately switch off the gas. No need to roast coconut. After it is cooled down grind it into a smoothpaste.
Cut raw banana into medium cubes and boil in water.
After the banana is cooked add sambar powder, salt ,cooked karamani, tamarind water and let it boil for 5-10 minutes till there is no raw smell both from sambar podi and tamarind. Once everything is boiled well add cooked t.dal . After 3 minutes add the coconut paste. After 1-2 minutes switch off the gas as we don't want that to boil anymore after adding coconut.
To temper add mustard seeds ,hing, curry leaves to a tsp of oil. After everything splutters add it to the kuzhambu. Tasty kootu kuzhambu is ready.
